What are Nakshatras?

Nakshatras or lunar mansions are a unique component of Vedic Astrology. Before the ecliptic was divided into the twelve zodiac signs, the ancient Indian astronomers recognized 28 divisions called Nakshatras. Each Nakshatra is related to a Star or a Constellation; the Nakshatra of where your moon falls in is called your birth star. Your birth star has a profound influence on your life.
